We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer leaning toward backend architecture, bringing world‑class design and engineering excellence to our website and ecosystem. The position focuses on data models, system design, and elegant API architecture while owning the entire feature lifecycle from database to polished UI.
Your 12‑Month Mission- Led the web dev team in delivering new Laravel.com experiences that significantly improved traffic conversion.
- Built upon and substantially improved management and maintainability of content‑heavy aspects of our web and marketing efforts.
- Acted as a senior contributor across multiple products and engineering teams.
- Partnered closely with Marketing, embedding yourself as a critical engineering partner with clear, low‑touch leadership and reporting to the Engineering head.
- Own the Backend & System Architecture for our website: Architect and implement the core Laravel backend with robust data models, API design, security, and scalability.
- Full Stack Feature Delivery: Own the entire stack from database schema and API endpoints (Laravel/PHP) through to “light” front‑end components (Next.js/React).
- Conversion & Marketing Systems: Partner with Marketing to continuously improve systems that drive business growth—optimizing speed, conversion, and content management.
- Integration & Contribution: Contribute deep backend knowledge across the full Laravel product portfolio.
- Technical Taste Setter: Serve as the go‑to expert for backend development, setting implementation standards and driving long‑term vision.
- Elevate the Team: Mentor engineers, raising architectural quality, code maintainability, and security practices.
- Pragmatic Problem Solver: Ask critical product and UX questions, ensuring solutions are elegant, scalable, and genuinely solve the user’s or business’s need.
- 8+ years of experience building production‑scale web applications, with deep expertise in Laravel, PHP, and modern backend architecture.
- Full Stack Fluency: Significant experience shaping the integration layer between a PHP backend and a modern JavaScript front‑end (Next.js/React).
- Systems Thinking: Designed scalable component models, data‑loading strategies, and API architectures that scale elegantly under high traffic.
- Business & Product Focus: Delivered features that directly impact key business metrics (conversion, revenue) and understand the “why” behind product decisions.
- Taste in Architecture: Deep care for system elegance, data model integrity, performance, and developer experience.
- Collaboration and Ownership: Proactive mindset, comfortable partnering directly with designers, marketers, and product leaders to define, build, and own projects end‑to‑end.
- Bias for Action: Iterate fast, refine continuously, and ship without compromising architectural quality.
- Experience designing and building highly maintainable CMS or content management systems.
- Experience in developer‑platform or cloud‑infrastructure companies.
- Active contributions to open‑source projects in the Laravel/PHP ecosystem.
