The Role:
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Compliance Officer (DCO) for Bitfinex El Salvador in supporting all general compliance activities.
With support from the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of iFinex, Compliance Officer El Salvador (CO) and the iFinex Compliance Team, the DCO will be accountable for supporting the CO with the implementation, maintenance and day‑to‑day compliance of the corporate AML/CFT and Sanctions (referred to as the “Compliance Policy”) and applicable compliance laws and regulations.
This role reports directly to the CO of BFX El Salvador with a ‘dotted line’ relationship to the Chief Compliance Officer of iFinex Inc. to ensure alignment with the enterprise AML Program.
The incumbent will work remotely and be required to work flexibly across multiple time zones. The incumbent will be resident in El Salvador and be fluent in Spanish (native) and English (intermediate).
The role requires excellent communication skill and proficiency in research, report, and policy writing and sufficient knowledge of anti‑money laundering, counter‑terrorist financing and international sanctions, the concept of risk assessment and El Salvador’s regulatory framework as a requisite. And ideally the incumbent will have an interest in the understanding of blockchain technology and the concept of financial inclusion and freedom; a demonstrated understanding of the concept of the Bitcoin Blockchain and Stable Coins is an advantage.
