WordPress Technical Lead (Remote LATAM)

We are seeking a WordPress Technical Lead to architect, standardize, and govern our growing portfolio of WordPress websites supporting home services brands (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical). This role is both hands-on and strategic — combining senior-level development capabilities with platform-level leadership.

You will serve as the technical authority responsible for enforcing architectural discipline, optimizing performance (particularly around Core Web Vitals), governing plugin usage, and ensuring consistency across a growing number of WordPress sites. The role is not about building individual sites, but about designing and maintaining a scalable, stable, and efficient WordPress platform that others can confidently build within.

The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with deep WordPress knowledge, hands-on experience with Kadence Theme and Blocks, and the ability to coach and guide other developers while implementing performance, SEO, and workflow best practices. You will work closely with internal developers, DevOps, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital experiences at scale.

• WordPress Architecture & Standards
• Design and document a standardized approach to building with Kadence Theme and Kadence Blocks
• Create and maintain scalable page templates and block patterns for:
  • Service pages
  • Location-based pages
  • Promotional and conversion landing pages
  • Trust and credibility components (testimonials, guarantees, etc.)
• Define and enforce global typography, spacing, and styling guidelines to ensure brand consistency
• Eliminate inconsistent page layouts, inline styling, unmanaged CSS, and one-off build behaviors
• Drive structural standardization across 10+ active WordPress sites (with future growth in mind)

• Plugin Governance & Platform Consistency
• Conduct audits of plugin usage across all existing WordPress environments
• Establish and maintain:
  • Approved plugin lists
  • Conditional-use plugin policies
  • Banned plugin lists
• Reduce plugin redundancy, performance risk, and security exposure
• Ensure plugins align with architectural principles, security, and long-term maintainability

• Performance, SEO & Stability Leadership
• Lead performance optimization efforts with a focus on:
  • Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP)
  • Mobile-first loading speed
  • Eliminating render-blocking assets and unnecessary scripts
• Coordinate with DevOps on AWS-hosted WordPress infrastructure
• Align caching, CDN, and asset optimization strategies for speed and reliability
• Implement and maintain technical SEO best practices in templates and page architecture
• Ensure templates support schema markup, metadata management, crawlability, and scalable SEO structures

• Development Workflow & Release Governance
• Define and enforce structured development workflows:
  • Staging → QA → Production release processes
  • Update cadence and release timelines
  • Testing, validation, and rollback strategies
• Minimize update and deployment risks with consistent governance and documentation
• Maintain environment separation standards and backup/recovery procedures

• Team Leadership, Enablement & Mentorship
• Act as the technical lead and primary decision-maker for WordPress-related initiatives
• Provide oversight and quality control of all WordPress development work
• Mentor and train developers and builders on:
  • Approved workflows
  • Kadence template usage
  • Technical standards
• Improve team capabilities, predictability, and craftsmanship
• Translate platform strategy into real-world adoption through enablement, not just documentation

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience
• Proven experience designing reusable templates and scalable WordPress architectures
• Deep hands-on experience with:
  • Kadence Theme
  • Kadence Blocks
  • Gutenberg block editor
• Experience managing and scaling WordPress across multiple concurrent sites

• Strong understanding of WordPress core architecture, theme and plugin systems, and extensibility
• Experience standardizing WordPress systems across multiple environments
• Proficiency in scalable WordPress design patterns, hooks, and reusable code structures

• Deep knowledge of Core Web Vitals and how they influence SEO, UX, and conversion
• Proficiency in diagnosing and improving asset loading, script blocking, image optimization, and caching
• Familiarity with performance analysis tools and techniques

• Knowledge of technical SEO best practices, particularly for multi-location or local service brands
• Experience implementing scalable SEO frameworks within WordPress themes/templates

• Working knowledge of AWS-hosted WordPress environments or equivalent cloud-based infrastructure
• Familiarity with CDN integration, caching layers, and environment separation (staging vs production)
• Understanding of how infrastructure affects reliability, performance, and scaling

• Experience auditing plugin stacks and defining governance policies
• Knowledge of WordPress security best practices, plugin vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies

• Familiarity with structured release cycles, rollback planning, and QA workflows
• Experience documenting processes, standards, and governance rules
